From EDP 3rd June 2010 (Page 10)
Photograph taken by one of KL&DCC student members - Robert Williamson - Robert's photograph was used in the EDP on page 10 today 3rd June 2010. It was used as part of a feature about "Help Norfolk Wildlife Trust with wildlife watching event" By EMMA KNIGHTS.
People young and old are being encouraged to get back to nature and help the Norfolk Wildlife Trust with its biggest ever wildlife-watching event.
To celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity the trust is holding a Big Biodiversity Watch across all of its reserves, including Cley Marshes, Hickling Broad, Ranworth Broad, Weeting Health and Foxley Wood.
It is hoping more than 500 people will get involved in recording more than 500 different species on the nature reserves between midday on Saturday and midday on Sunday.
The competitions have been running for three years and you can now enter for the forth competition when closes again this November. As it is international, the last competition attracted entries from 30 countries with a total of 20,000 entries received for this last competition. I entered two of the six categories:- "Garden Views" and "The Edible Garden" submitting four images for each category last November. The image titled "Plum Garden, Narborough Hall" reached the semi finalist position in the "Garden Views" category and "Autumn Harvest" became a finalist in the category for "The Edible Garden" with seven other finalists but did not gain a first, second or third place.
The winners for this year's competition were announced at the beginning of May.

Picture in "Digital Camera" (Page 83) HOT SHOT SECTION. Lamp Post by John Bull LRPS
This picture was taken from a riverside footpath near King's Lynn. A large new paper factory called Palm Paper has just been built on the adjacent site, and this photo shows the reflection of an outside lamp in a window that sits high on the factory wall. The picture was taken just before sunset, and afterwards I used Photoshop to whiten the pink sunset hue and convert the image to black and white.
Camera Equipment: Canon EOS 350D: Canon EF 75-300 mm F/4-5.6 IS USM : 300 mm ISO400 - 0.6sec at F/36

John Bull Said:- One curiosity is that the reflected image is a slightly different shape from the original. I have been back to Palm Paper, where I took the shot (from the public footpath) and the reflection really is distorted. If you move to the right so that the reflection is in the other window it is the right shape (but not such a good composition).
This image gets varying reactions. It came 11th in Open Print (2) at the club and only scored 8/15 when I submitted it for the Bebington Salon. However it scored 12/15 in the Bromsgrove Open and was accepted for the exhibition.
