The Club, formed in 1962, has grown recently to 65 members. We became a registered charity in 2008. We welcome new members, whatever their level of achievement.
To create a relaxed and friendly environment for beginner and expert alike.
To encourage each individual to improve their photographic standards by comparison, expert advice, personal coaching and the opportunity of critical assessment.
Provide worthwhile and stimulating events for all those with an interest in photography.
We do this by organising an annual programme of about 40 meetings from September to June arranging guest or internal speakers, training programmes, club competitions for prints, slides (film and digital) and now, digitally projected images.
Making friends with people who share your interests.
Whether you are using film, or digital cameras we are all here to create and share pictures covering a wide range of subjects and are always enthusiastic to see each others work.
The extent to which you participate is up to you. If you wish you can bring along pictures for general comment or discuss a problem, or just see other people's pictures. This is useful, but you will also be encouraged to enter competitions yourself to express your own thoughts and ideas.
You can get first hand advice about a camera or a piece of equipment from members who may already use one, also techniques and money saving alternatives can sometimes be discovered in our "Tea/Coffee Break" interval. (only 20p)
We are a group of photographers in various stages and levels of photography. In digital imaging we are exploring the huge subject together, maintaining a joint progress for all who wants to come along. . Basically, it is a fun night. Although we take our photography seriously, we all know that the perfect picture is always an inch (or a moment) away and even if never achieved, it is great fun striving for it. Occasionally we test ourselves with inter-club battles (competitions), which is a good way of meeting other Clubs and seeing their work.
Contact us and drop in and meet us. To visit as a guest is £1.00 per night.
